Force-free dog training in Dalry and the Garnock Valley

Mikes Mutts is run by Mike Ankers (DTC-CDT), a certified, force-free dog trainer based in Dalry, Ayrshire. Friendly, reward-based training for puppies and grown-up dogs in Dalry, Beith, Kilbirnie and across the Garnock Valley.

Mike is qualified with the Dog Training College, the Guild of Dog Trainers and the Centre of Excellence, and is certified in Canine First Aid. Book your session online.

What force-free dog training means

Force-free training means your dog learns because good choices pay off, not because they are worried about getting it wrong. There is no shouting, no pressure or intimidation, and no outdated ‘pack leader’ ideas. Instead, sessions use lots of positive motivation, with high-value treats as Mike’s co-trainers.

It works for puppies and grown-up dogs alike. Whether you are raising a cheeky new puppy, working through lead pulling, or helping a nervous dog feel brave, the aim is the same: practical, everyday skills that turn tricky moments into positive wins, and make training simple, stress-free and fun for both ends of the lead.

How training with Mikes Mutts works

  • 1 to 1 training (£45.00): around an hour of time just for you and your dog, at a location convenient to you.
  • Training classes (£15.00): small groups of up to 5 dogs, meeting weekly on the same day for 4 weeks.
  • Puppy training: as 1 to 1 sessions or classes, at the same prices, so the early weeks set up good habits.
  • Personalised training plans (£14.99): a 4-week plan built around your dog and your goals, sent as a PDF by email, with email support from Mike throughout.

Booking is easy. Pick a date and time that suits you on the online booking calendar and pay securely. Not sure which option is right? Tell Mike a little about your dog and he will point you in the right direction.
